Econsultancy: "Bad reviews improve conversion by 67%"
Who would have thought that the above title wasn't absolute rubbish? Social commerce company Reevoo has conducted some in-depth surveys & research which suggests that bad reviews are actually helpful to a business.
Come to think of it, its not too hard to believe. Whenever do we trust 100%, 10 out of 10, perfectly written reviews about a company? The answer is, we don't! It's human nature to doubt, question & scrutinise a product or service, especially when something seems to be too good to be true. So, hold that click on the moderate button and think of the up-side to that not so great review you've just received.
The shoppers that quite often seek out these bad reviews, are generally very engaged consumers and will stay on your site for extended periods of time. The poor reviews you receive are imperative for social validation. Not only that, these poor reviews can be turned into a good thing. You will be able to collate the feedback & use it to improve your service or product. In addition to that, the customers that have left this feedback, should not be left feeling bitter, act on it as soon as you can, by providing helpful responses, alternatives or returns (depending on the product you provide). And you may just be able to turn a bad thing into something good, they will often then happily reciprocate the good deed & spread the word.
