about us

PS Web Designs is founded upon a passion for technology, graphics & the web. Always looking for new ways of providing the visually stimulating, I realise that at the heart of design is the ability to listen and provide a solution that is effective and functional. After all, we all want it to look good but it has to deliver.

I setup PSWD in 2009 with the intention of it being a platform from which I could share my increasing Portfolio of work. This knowledge came from a wealth of self teaching through tutorials, articles, books, magazines (anything I could get my hands on!)

Design knows no boundaries, nor does my drive and determination to create and produce beautiful yet functional web sites & print work. Any challenge is another opportunity to learn something new and develop further. And with a web base that is always evolving the possibilities are endless.

What I specialise in:

  • User centred web design
  • Responsive web design
  • HTML, HTML5, CSS & CSS3
  • Basic jQuery for additional functionality
  • Brand design
  • Print media

Econsultancy: "Bad reviews improve conversion by 67%"

author: Paul Salter, dated: 15/01/12

Who would have thought that the above title wasn't absolute rubbish? Social commerce company Reevoo has conducted some in-depth surveys & research which suggests that bad reviews are actually helpful to a business.

Come to think of it, its not too hard to believe. Whenever do we trust 100%, 10 out of 10, perfectly written reviews about a company? The answer is, we don't! It's human nature to doubt, question & scrutinise a product or service, especially when something seems to be too good to be true. So, hold that click on the moderate button and think of the up-side to that not so great review you've just received.

The shoppers that quite often seek out these bad reviews, are generally very engaged consumers and will stay on your site for extended periods of time. The poor reviews you receive are imperative for social validation. Not only that, these poor reviews can be turned into a good thing. You will be able to collate the feedback & use it to improve your service or product. In addition to that, the customers that have left this feedback, should not be left feeling bitter, act on it as soon as you can, by providing helpful responses, alternatives or returns (depending on the product you provide). And you may just be able to turn a bad thing into something good, they will often then happily reciprocate the good deed & spread the word.
